Cloning Interview Plans Across Jobs
Last updated: April 15, 2026
Kula gives you two ways to reuse an interview plan instead of building one from scratch:
Clone a global template — create a copy of an existing template in Settings to use as the basis for a new plan.
Import from another job — when setting up the interview plan for a job, pull in the plan configuration from an existing job.
Both approaches save time and ensure consistency when similar roles share the same evaluation structure.
Cloning a Global Interview Plan Template
Cloning creates an independent copy of an existing global template. The clone starts as an exact replica and can then be edited without affecting the original.
Steps
Go to Settings → Interviews & Scheduling → Interview Plan.
Hover over the plan you want to clone.
Click the Ellipsis (⋯) icon and select Clone.
Enter a name for the new plan in the Add Name Here field.
Click Clone to create the copy.

The cloned plan now appears in your template list and can be edited, applied to jobs, or cloned again independently.
Use case: You have a solid "Technical - Mid-level" interview plan. You want to create a "Technical - Senior" variant with an extra stage and a different scorecard. Clone the existing plan and modify the copy — the original is untouched.
Importing a Plan from Another Job
When setting up or updating the interview plan for a job, you can import the plan configuration from an existing job rather than selecting a global template. This is useful when:
The new job closely resembles a previously successful hire
You want to replicate a plan that was customized at the job level
Steps
Open the job you want to configure.
Navigate to Settings → Interview Plan within the job.
When prompted to set up the plan, choose Import from Another Job (instead of selecting a global template).
Search for and select the source job.
The plan from that job — including all stages and activities — is copied into the current job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If I clone a global template, does editing the clone affect the original?
No. The clone is a completely independent copy from the moment it is created. Edits to the clone do not affect the original, and vice versa.
Q: I imported a plan from another job but the interviewer pools are not showing. Why?
Interviewer pool assignments are copied at the time of import, but if the interview plan is subsequently changed or re-applied after job creation, pools may not migrate across correctly. Go to the job's interview plan and manually re-add the interviewer pools to the affected stages.
Q: I updated the global template but existing jobs haven't changed. Is this expected?
Yes, this is expected behaviour. Once a plan is applied to a job, the job holds its own copy and is no longer linked to the global template. Changes to the global template only affect new jobs going forward. To update existing jobs, edit each job's interview plan individually. This behaviour ensures that candidates currently in a hiring pipeline are not affected by template changes.
Q: Can I apply the same global template to many jobs at once?
You can select the same template when creating multiple jobs, but each job will receive its own independent copy of the plan at that point. There is currently no way to push a single template update to all jobs using it simultaneously.
