Connect HackerEarth to Kula

Last updated: August 14, 2026

Connecting HackerEarth lets you send coding tests and exercises to candidates from inside Kula. HackerEarth is the one assessment integration that uses a client ID and client secret rather than a single API key.

Who can do this: Super Admin, Admin

Where to find it: Settings → Organization → Organization integrations → Assessments

Connect HackerEarth

  1. Go to Settings → Organization → Organization integrations.

  2. Find the HackerEarth card under Assessments.

  3. Turn the toggle on. The HackerEarth Settings panel opens.

  4. Enter your Client ID.

  5. Enter your Client Secret.

  6. Click Verify Credentials.

  7. Both fields are required — the Verify button stays disabled until you fill in each one. If the credentials are wrong you will see "Incorrect credentials. Double-check the values and try again." and nothing is saved.

You need a HackerEarth plan with a recruiter licence, and an activated recruiter-type HackerEarth user account with company admin permissions. Both the client ID and the client secret come from HackerEarth.

Sending an assessment to a candidate using HackerEarth on a job

Once connected, HackerEarth becomes an activity you can add to a interview stage so candidates reaching that stage receive the test. For the full flow, see [Add an assessment to a job stage]

Re-authenticate HackerEarth

If your HackerEarth credentials are rotated or revoked, the card shows Invalid and assessments stop sending.

  1. Hover over the HackerEarth card.

  2. Click Re-authenticate.

  3. Enter the current Client ID and Client Secret and verify again.

Good to know

  • HackerEarth needs two values, not one. A single API key will not work.

  • Assessments cannot be sent in bulk to a group of candidates through HackerEarth — each candidate is sent individually.

  • Turning the toggle off disconnects the integration. Assessments already sent to candidates are not withdrawn from HackerEarth.

FAQ

Our HackerEarth assessments suddenly stopped sending — do we need to set the integration up again? Usually not. If the card shows Invalid, the credentials were rotated or revoked on the HackerEarth side. Hover over the card, click Re-authenticate, and enter the current Client ID and Client Secret.

Can I send a HackerEarth assessment to a whole stage of candidates at once? No. HackerEarth assessments go out one candidate at a time. If you need bulk sending today, Hireflix supports sending to everyone in a stage. For more, see Connect Hireflix to Kula.
