Once an interview with the AI Notetaker wraps up, where do you actually go to see what it captured? This article is the practical, click-level companion to "AI in interviews — the notetaker" — where to find the recording, transcript, and summary, how to ask questions about a specific interview, and a real point of confusion worth knowing about upfront: there are two differently-scoped AI assistants in Kula, and it's easy to mix them up.

Finding the recording, transcript, and summary

After an interview with the Notetaker completes, open Interviews → Past Interviews and click into that specific interview. You'll find:

• The recording — a video player for the interview itself.

• The Transcript — the full text of the conversation.

• The Summary — the AI-generated write-up of key discussion points.

There's a keyword search box within the Notetaker view that lets you type a term and jump to where it came up — useful for finding a specific topic in a long interview without scrolling the whole transcript. This search box is scoped to that one interview, not your whole candidate history.

Asking questions about a specific interview

• Look for "Ask about this interview" on the interview's page — this is the Interview Assistant, and it answers questions grounded in that interview's transcript and summary (for example, "did they mention their notice period?" or "what did they say about remote work?"). It's scoped to a single interview.

Adding your own notes alongside the AI notes

Interviewers can still add their own notes — public or private — on an interview, independent of what the Notetaker captured. This is useful for impressions or context you don't want the AI summarizing on your behalf, or for anything you'd rather keep private within the hiring team.

If you don't see a summary yet

Give it a little time — summaries aren't instant. If an interview ended noticeably early, there's a known, reported case where the summary can take longer than usual to generate; if it's been a while and nothing's appeared, check back or reach out to Support rather than assuming something's broken. See "Why an AI recording failed" if there's no recording or transcript at all, not just a delayed summary.

Good to know

• There are two differently-scoped AI assistants, and they look similar at a glance. "Ask about this interview" (on an interview's page) answers questions about that one interview only. The AI Assistant in the Candidate Summary tab answers questions about the candidate's whole file. Knowing which one you're looking at saves a real, reported round of confusion.

• Interview Assistant answers are grounded in the transcript and summary, but aren't infallible. There's at least one confirmed, fixed case where it incorrectly said a topic "wasn't discussed" when it actually was. Treat its answers as a fast way to orient yourself, not as a substitute for checking the transcript on anything that materially affects a hiring decision — see "AI in interviews — the notetaker" for the fuller picture on trust and accuracy limitations.

• Transcripts, summaries, and recordings are currently only accessible through the Kula UI — there's no API or MCP access to this data today. At least one customer has asked for this (to feed transcripts into their own scorecard-drafting workflow) and it's a real, requested-but-not-built gap, not an oversight on your end if you're looking for a programmatic way to pull this data.

• The Summary view may eventually default to a structured Q&A-style layout rather than free text — this has been requested and may be in progress, but isn't the default experience as of this writing.

FAQ

• Where do I find the recording, transcript, and summary after an interview? Interviews → Past Interviews → click into that specific interview. All three are on that interview's page.

• What's the difference between "Ask about this interview" and the AI Assistant on the candidate's profile? "Ask about this interview" only knows about that one interview's transcript and summary. The Candidate Summary tab's AI Assistant knows about the candidate's entire file — every interview, note, scorecard, and activity. Use whichever matches the scope of your question.

• I don't see a summary yet — is something wrong? Not necessarily — summaries can take a little while to generate, especially if the interview ended early. Check back, and if it's been a long time with nothing showing, reach out to Support.

• Can I pull the transcript or summary into our own systems? Not today — this data is only available in the Kula UI, with no API or MCP access yet.

• Can I add my own notes on top of what the Notetaker captured? Yes — public or private notes can be added to an interview independent of the AI-generated content.
