Controlling Job Post Visibility

Last updated: April 16, 2026

Kula gives you precise control over where each job post appears and who can see it — from your public career page and external job boards, to your internal employee board, to no visibility at all. Visibility is configured per job from the Settings: Job post tab.

Visibility Options

Job Post Visibility: Listed vs. Unlisted

Every job post has a top-level visibility toggle:

Setting

What it means

Listed

The job is publicly visible — on external job boards, your Kula career page, or the internal job board (depending on your selection below)

Unlisted

The job is hidden from all boards and the career page. Candidates cannot apply unless given a direct link

When a job is set to Unlisted, the application form is not accessible from any public or internal board. However, a direct application link (available under Job boards → Job Posts) can still be shared manually, and candidates who receive it can apply.

Where to List: Choosing Your Distribution

When Listed is selected, you choose where the job appears:

External job boards and Kula career page The job is visible on your public Kula career page and distributed to any external job boards you've configured (LinkedIn, Indeed via JobTarget, etc.).

Internal job board The job is visible only to your employees via the Referrals section. You can further control what employees can do:

  • Allow employees to apply — Employee sees an Apply button

  • Allow employees to refer — Employee sees Share and Refer buttons

  • Allow both — Employee sees all three options

You can enable both options simultaneously — a role can be public externally while also appearing on the internal board.

How to Change Visibility on a Job

  1. Open the job from the Jobs list.

  2. Click Settings: Job post in the top navigation.

  3. Expand the Basic info section.

  4. Under Job post visibility, select Listed or Unlisted.

  5. If Listed, check the appropriate destination(s) under Where do you want to list this job post?

  6. Click Save.

The job's status badge at the top of the page updates to reflect the current visibility — Listed or Unlisted.

Job Status vs. Job Post Visibility

These are two separate settings that work together:

Job Status

Job Post Visibility

Result

Open

Listed

Job is live and visible to candidates

Open

Unlisted

Job is open internally but hidden from boards

Draft

Listed

Job will not appear until launched

Paused

Listed

Job is temporarily hidden from all boards

Closed

Listed

Job is removed from all boards

Jobs in Draft, Paused, or Closed status will not appear on the career page or job boards regardless of the visibility setting.

FAQs

Q: My job is set to Unlisted but it's still showing on the career page. Why?

The most common cause is another job posting with the same title that is set to Listed. Use the department, office, and work type filters in the Jobs list to check for duplicate job names. Review each one to confirm which is listed vs. unlisted.

Q: A candidate applied to an Unlisted job. How is that possible?

Unlisted jobs do not appear on the career page or internal board, but a direct application link still works. If that link was shared — via sourcing, referrals, or a previous campaign — candidates can still apply through it. If you want to fully prevent applications, do not share the direct link.

Q: Can I list a job only on the internal board without it appearing publicly?

Yes. Set visibility to Listed, uncheck External job boards and Kula career page, and check only Internal job board. The role will appear to employees but not on your public career page or external boards.

Q: I want to share a role externally via a link without it appearing on the career page. Is that possible?

Set the job as Confidential when creating it. This generates a shareable link you can distribute without the role appearing on your public career page.
