Marking a candidate as hired

Last updated: August 25, 2026

"Hired" is the last milestone in your interview plan. This article explains how a candidate actually gets there — it's a pipeline move you make, not something that happens automatically when an offer is accepted.

Who can do this: Recruiter, Hiring Manager

Where to find it: Jobs → your job → Pipeline

Hired is a stage you move a candidate to

Accepting an offer doesn't automatically mark a candidate as hired. You still need to move their card into a stage under the Hired milestone yourself — most often by dragging it on the pipeline board.

  1. Open the job's Pipeline.

  2. Drag the candidate's card into a Hired-milestone stage, or use the move-stage action on their card.

Once a candidate is in a Hired-milestone stage, Kula marks their application status as Hired.

What happens automatically once you do

  • If your organisation tracks requisitions, moving a candidate into Hired links their application to the requisition, unless it's already linked through their offer. Moving them back out of Hired removes that link and reopens the requisition if it had been filled.

  • Accepting the offer itself is a separate action that already fills the linked requisition — see Offer statuses in Kula. Marking someone hired on the pipeline is a complementary step, not a duplicate of it.

Good to know

  • There's no dedicated "hire date" field — Kula doesn't record a separate hire date beyond when the pipeline move happened and the start date on the offer.

  • Marking someone hired is a manual action. If a candidate accepts their offer but nobody moves their card, they'll stay in whatever stage they were in.
