Creating and publishing a job post

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Write the job description, complete the launch checklist, and publish the role to your career page and external job boards.

Who can do this: Requires the same job-editing permissions used to create and manage a job.

Where to find it: Within a job: Job Description (content), Job Posting settings (where the post appears), and the Job boards tab (external distribution). See "Creating a new job" for creating the underlying job record itself.

Writing the job description

Kula gives you three ways to write the description - this is done while creating the job:

  • Add manually — fill in the default sections: About the Job, Skills & Qualifications, and Responsibilities.

  • Copy from another job — start from an existing job description that's close to the new role, then adjust the title, responsibilities, and qualifications.

  • Ask Kula AI — describe the role, company, and any specifics, then click Generate JD. You can review and edit the result, or highlight any section and use Ask AI to Edit to rewrite it, make it shorter or longer, or change its tone (Professional, Casual, Enthusiastic, Persuasive).

Completing the launch checklist

Before launching, review:

  • Job information, criteria, and description — make sure every requirement for the role is listed.

  • Hiring team — confirm the Hiring Manager, Recruiter, and Coordinators are assigned.

  • Interview plan — confirm stages, interviewers, and evaluation criteria are set up (see "Applying an interview plan to a job").

  • Application form — confirm it captures what you need, including any custom fields or role-specific questions.

  • Job posting location — under Job Posting, set whether the job should appear on your Career Portal (see "Setting up your public career page") so it's visible to external candidates.

Launching the job

  • Use Preview to see how the job will look to candidates before it's live, then click Launch.

  • Once launched, the job shows as Active in your Jobs dashboard and appears on your Career Portal if it's set to external.

  • You can still edit the job, its requirements, and its interview plan after launch — changes are reflected on the live posting immediately.

Distributing to job boards

Job boards are managed per job, under the job's Job boards tab:

  • Job boards themselves need to be connected first, in Settings → Career page and Job Boards → Job boards. Kula's VONQ integration supports posting either through your own job-board contracts (BYOC — you handle billing externally) or through VONQ's paid marketplace (add to cart, validate, pay, then publish; unpaid campaigns save as drafts until payment completes).

  • Create campaigns lists every job board your organization has connected. Toggle a board on to create a campaign and queue the job for distribution there; toggle it off to end that board's campaign (the job stays open in Kula, just no longer distributed externally).

  • Live campaigns shows what's actually running, split into two sub-tabs: Active/Expired campaigns (boards currently live or that have ended) and Drafts (campaigns you started but haven't finished publishing — select one to complete setup and publish).

Good to know

  • Job board postings can take 24–48 hours to appear or disappear. This delay is on the job board's side (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.), not Kula — both publishing a new posting and removing a closed one can take up to two days to reflect.

  • A job needs to be set to appear on external job boards before its job-board toggles show up. If you don't see the option to post to a board, check Job Posting settings to confirm the job is listed under external job boards.

  • Deleting a job board contract is permanent, and any campaigns still live on that board at the time stay live and unmanaged from Kula's side — there's no undo.

  • Paid job board postings (via VONQ's marketplace) only go live after payment completes. If a campaign isn't publishing, check whether it's stuck waiting on payment rather than assuming it's a bug.

  • Not every connected job board behaves identically. Some customers have reported that after completing all the setup steps for a given board, postings still fail to go out or error partway through — if a specific board isn't publishing despite correct setup, that's worth raising with support rather than re-checking your configuration repeatedly.

  • Internal job postings (for referrals/internal mobility) are found in a different place than external ones. Employees view and apply to internally-posted roles under Referrals → Jobs, not on the public career page.

FAQ

  • What are the three ways to write a job description? Add it manually section by section, copy it from an existing job and adjust it, or have Kula AI generate a first draft that you review and edit.

  • Can I edit a job after it's been launched? Yes — details, requirements, and the interview plan all stay editable after launch, and changes reflect on the live posting immediately.

  • What's the difference between Create Campaigns and Live Campaigns on the Job boards tab? Create Campaigns is where you turn a board on or off for this job. Live Campaigns shows the actual status of those campaigns — active/expired postings in one sub-tab, unfinished drafts in another.

  • Why don't I see a toggle to post my job to a job board? The job first needs to be set to appear on external job boards in its Job Posting settings — the board toggles only show up once that's set.

  • How long does it take for a job to actually appear on LinkedIn or another board after I publish it? Typically 24–48 hours — that turnaround is controlled by the job board, not Kula.

  • Where do employees go to see and apply to internally-posted jobs? Referrals → Jobs, once logged in — a separate view from the public career page.
