Get started as an Interviewer

Last updated: July 28, 2026

Welcome to Kula!

If you've been asked to interview someone — or to review an application — this is you. Kula asks very little: be findable when someone tries to book you, and leave your feedback afterwards. Everything else is handled by the recruiter.

Ten minutes to read and set up, not an hour.

Who this is for: interviewers. In Kula your access sits under the Organization Member role — you can be added as an interviewer to jobs, refer candidates, and apply on the internal job board.

Your organization has its own Kula address — yourcompany.kula.ai. You'll sign in with a password, with Google or Microsoft, or through your company's single sign-on.

You'll see a focused slice of Kula in the left navigation: Dashboard, Interviews, Referrals, and the Internal job board, plus your own Settings.

Your dashboard

You land here every time, and it's built to answer one question: what's waiting on me? Everything you need to act on is on this page.

  • Your open tasks sit top-left, with live counts: Scorecards, Approvals and Surveys.

  • The Open Tasks list breaks those out one by one. Each row shows the candidate, the job, the stage, and how long it's been pending — so a scorecard you've left for eleven days is impossible to miss.

  • Each row has a Fill scorecard button that takes you straight in, without hunting for the candidate.

  • Upcoming interviews shows what's on today and next.

Two kinds of task land in that Scorecard list, and it's worth knowing the difference:

  • Interview — feedback on someone you interviewed.

  • Review — an application review, where you're asked to weigh in on a candidate before they progress, without a live interview.

Both are filled the same way. There's a fuller tour in Understanding the Kula home screen.

Set these up before your first interview

  • Set your timezone. Kula uses it to work out your real working hours. Without it, candidates can't be offered slots at all with you on the panel — the most common reason a booking link seems broken. It's in your profile.

  • Then open the Notification Centre and pick where Kula reaches you. You can receive updates by Slack, email or in-app, and this is also where you'll be notified about scorecards to fill and any approvals waiting on you.

Scorecard reminders are a critical notification, so they always come through on at least one channel — choose the one you actually read rather than muting everything.

Your interview arrives as a normal calendar invite. Everything you need is on it or one click away.

  • The joining link is on the calendar event — Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. No need to open Kula to join.

  • Open the briefing beforehand. It carries the candidate's resume, what earlier interviewers found, and what you specifically are being asked to assess.

  • If your organisation uses the AI Notetaker, the invite will say so and the candidate will have been told. It records and transcribes the conversation so you can pay attention rather than type. See The AI Notetaker in interviews.

Need to move things? From the interview, Send message has ready-made options — running late, reschedule, a venue or link change, or more information — so you don't draft an email from scratch.

After the interview: fill your scorecard

Do it the same day. The next interviewer reads what you wrote before they meet the candidate, so late or vague feedback slows everyone down.

You've got full interview context right there in the scorecard. When you open it — whether from your dashboard tasks, the job's application, or the Scorecards tab — you'll see, alongside your rating fields:

  • The AI Summary, broken into sections: candidate summary, Q&A, topic highlights, candidate fit, and highlights & lowlights.

  • The recording, so you can check a moment before you commit to a score.

  • An AI Assistant panel to ask a question about the conversation without leaving the page.

Let AI draft it if the interview was recorded. Fill scorecard with AI drafts your answers from what was actually said. Read it, fix anything it misheard, and add your own judgement — your edits are appended alongside the AI content, not overwritten, so nothing is lost. It won't fill your overall recommendation; that part is yours.

See what other interviewers thought. On the candidate, each round's scorecard is listed with its interviewer and rating, so you can read earlier feedback where your organisation's settings allow it. What you can see is controlled by your admin — see Scorecard visibility and permissions.

Notes are separate from the scorecard. The Notes tab, next to Scorecard, is for free-form observations — the things that don't fit a rating field but are worth recording. The scorecard is your structured verdict; notes are everything else.

Don't forget the Overall Evaluation at the bottom. It's required, and if you leave it blank the scorecard stays in Draft and never reaches the recruiter — even though you've typed everything else. This is the single most common reason feedback "doesn't show."

Keep Common questions from interviewers to hand — it covers the handful of things interviewers hit most, like feedback that won't submit or a scorecard that isn't showing.
